Christmas!

Christmas was fabulous.

Mike and I wanted to exchange gifts between each other alone, so we had our Christmas on Wednesday night. We had decided to go low-budget this year, but we still managed to have so much fun. It was so fun to open presents under our little tree, listening to Christmas tunes and giggling like kids as we tore open the gifts (well, maybe that was just me doing the giggling). :)

And yes, Mike totally got me this ADORABLE penguin. Maybe it is a little childish to get excited over a stuffed animal, but I think he's so cute. I saw him at Pier 1 and said to Mike, "Aww, I wish we had a baby so I'd have an excuse to buy this!"
Thanks to Mike, I don't need a baby to justify it :)

Mike got me the adorable penguin, an ornament for our tree, some comfy and warm pj pants, and a dvd that I've been dying to have
I got mike a tie, a goofy dvd, Nanodots, and some of his favorite treats
We then headed down to my parents for the craziness of Christmas down in Centerville. We had so much fun playing with nieces and nephews, staying up way too late, playing Ticket to Ride, eating delicious treats, waiting for Santa to come, and just loving being together. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family that we love to be around.

On Christmas Eve we of course had to do the Christmas story, complete with random costumes and a fabulous baby Asher as Jesus. Here's the vid (I won't be offended if you get bored):

I couldn't help but be so in love with little miss Lola the angel, as she giggled her lines:

"Don't be afraid! I have some wonderful news! The Savior is born in Bethlehem and you'll find him in a manger, and his name is JESUS CHRIST!"

And I thought of the truthfulness of her words. That the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ truly is wonderful news.  I'm so grateful for Christmas time-the glittering lights, the festive treats, shopping like crazies and finding perfect gifts for everyone, the parties, the decorating, but mostly for the chance to think about the birth of Christ and the life He lived and the love He has for us.

Hope you all had a great Christmas!

  1. I just did my Christmas post too. I love all of your pictures of you and Mike and the cute gifts you got each other. Love the penguin. And it's so fun you have the Christmas nativity on camera -- I love all of the random things in it, like Stella's coughing, us not knowing what to do, etc. And I agree Lola is so dang cute and perfect in her giggling voice saying those Christmas lines. What a fun Christmas!

  2. I am SO GLAD you got that on video!!! Ha I am laughing so hard but its so cute to hear dad reading it and I like that Lola was the only one with Lines. I agree with Chel--like Emmy running around and Katie snapping pictures, and Nate saying "Got it in hi-def" at the end!
Your penguin is so so cute and you and mike look like you had such a fun pre-Christmas! It really was such a fun, fun Christmas!!!
